Construction Features

We have learned from the best of our ancestors who developed the science of carpentry, resulting in wooden structures that have endured for thousands of years. The key to pledging lies in firm and unbreakable connections. Through meticulously crafted joinery techniques, connections are sculpted and fitted flawlessly, ensuring unparalleled stability and quality.

Mortise and Tenon

A signature element of Nemophilist construction is the use of Mortise-Tenon Joints and many other traditional joinery techniques. In this type of joint, a board has its ends cut to fit into a corresponding mortise. A blind tenon refers to a tenon that is hidden within the mortise. Whether it is blind, through, pinned, or keyed, mortise-and-tenon joints are regarded as the optimal method for joining furniture pieces together.

Pinned Mortise-Tenon Joinery

Nemophilist wooden joints typically employ tenons, glue, and wooden pins for reinforcement. The wooden pins play a vital role in securing the joint and providing extra strength. Remarkably, this joint possesses inherent stability, capable of maintaining its integrity even in the absence of glue. Depending on the style, some joints are visibly pinned from the front, while others are concealed at the back.

Hand Sanding Finish

The objective of sanding wood is to remove mill marks, which are caused by woodworking machines, and to eliminate other imperfections such as dents and gouges that may have been introduced in handling. At Nemophilist, we believe in delivering exceptional quality, which is why we employ the most efficient method of achieving a flawless finish – starting with hand sanding.

Thoughtful Cushion Details

Our separate seat cushions and back pillows are meticulously hand stitched by our team of experienced tailors. This ensures that each cushion is carefully crafted to meet our high standards of quality and durability. To provide exceptional comfort, most seat cushions feature micro denier Poly fiber wrapped around a high-density polyurethane foam core. Cushions are attached to the main frame to prevent seepage and moving while sitting.
